After being given the assignment of creating a title sequence for a television show, I knew right away I wanted to do South Park; you love it or you hate it, but the infamous show has been turning heads for the last two decades, and counting. Despite all of the controversial matters about the show, there are important topics that that are touched on below the surface.
The only requirement for this project was to animate the type in some way, I chose to make the type wiggle to relate to the playfulness of the show and composition; however I wanted the main focus of this piece to be the colorful shapes interacting with each other, and the music.
I created the colorful shapes by cutting paper, and scanning them in to animate. I was inspired by the shows animation style, and the fact that the creators started the show animating with paper. The abstract, geometric style stems from the concept of building blocks, a common children's toy, to add to the childlike playfulness of the show, which I wanted to highlight in my composition.

Background music was created by Primus, and continues to be used and owned by South Park.
