After being given the assignment of creating a title sequence for a television show, I knew right away I wanted to do South Park; you love it or you hate it, but the infamous show has been turning heads for the last two decades, and counting. Despite all of the controversial matters about the show, there are important topics that that are touched on below the surface, which is one of the things I admire most about the show.
I created the colorful shapes by cutting paper, and scanning them in to animate. I was inspired by the shows animation style, and the fact that the creators started the show by animating with paper. The abstract, geometric style stems from the concept of building blocks, a common children's toy, to add to the childlike playfulness of the show, which I wanted to highlight in my rendition.
