The goal of this project was to create an interactive online ordering system. Everyone in the class was given the option to choose between a sub shop (SubHub), or a coffee house (Perk Me Up).
Before creating the ordering system, I had to come up with a unique brand identity. My version of Perk Me Up is inspired by Mid Century Modern art and architecture. I have always been drawn to this era of design, and I thought it would be perfect inspiration for a modern coffee house. After analyzing the iconic era, I chose to modernize the side of Mid Century that is classified as "Atomic"; this can be seen in the primary logo and logomark, as well as other elements within the ordering system.
While creating the online ordering system, I chose my favorite interactions from popular online ordering systems like Starbucks, and Chamberlain Coffee. From these systems I selected to include circular icons (Starbucks), cart in the top right corner (Chamberlain Coffee), unique iconography (Chamberlain Coffee), and sectioning into categories (Starbucks). Although I pulled elements from other ordering systems, I included some of my own as well to make Perk Me Up stand out.
Somewhat mirroring Starbucks, I chose to keep the ordering system minimalistic; only including what is necessary on each page. Some things that sets aside Perk Me Up from the competitors is the inclusion of unique interactive elements, no scroll necessary - everything is visible on screen, and ASAP pick up time.
Perk Me Up is inclusive for people with food sensitivities, everything on the menu has its own safe option; providing every customer with a daily dose of spunk, to make life a little easier.
